Re:Sad day for Jackie Tellier - 2007/01/29 02:19 Australians playing in the league, and no doubt women from just about everywhere else.
Lauren Jackson, who just won the WNBA MVP award drinks at my local during the WNBA off season. She plays for the Canberra Capitals in the WNBA in Australia, and her local is my local. It`s cool that I can chat at the bar with the best women`s basketballer in the world while we`re waiting for beers. She`s a fine person too.
Just a damned pity that the WUSANSL has folded. I guess it`s really the same story as the Notts County and all the other clubs with great history that are starting to fold. Tragic, but there`s very little we can do about it. They`re in a market and the market is loaded with other sports. It seems inevitable and I don`t know how anyone can reverse the trend.
But thanks for all your posts over the last few years.

Re:Sad day for Jackie Tellier - 2007/01/29 10:45 soccer in general -- although it was inevitable, given the losses, everyone was hoping for a sugar daddy like Phil Anshutz to jump in.
Fortunately collegiate soccer is very strong and girls involvement in the game has even now been motivated by love and not greed.
Still, this can`t be good for the game. A return to regionalized leagues with smaller payrolls and smaller names is sure to happen.
