Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/06 19:46 [Here are the African countries bidding for WC2010. Egypt ands SA IMO have the capability to host the event. Interesting how the article does not mention the weather. A few years ago, I was in Cairo for a few days, and did the whole pyramids tourist stuff. Could not stay out muchas the temp was in the 37-40 deg range. And if you add the humidex...] Morocco Nigeria South Africa Tunisia infrastructure to win the right to host the 2010 World Cup finals.
Sports and Youth Minister Ali Eddin Helal believes the North African country has more to offer to the football fans than just the excitement of the tournament.
"Egypt`s historical heritage, the pyramids, the pharaohs and the museums, can make this World Cup very special," said Helal.
The World Cup finals will be held on African soil for the first time in 2010, and six countries have offered to host the tournament.
Apart from Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia are also in the frame stadia near historic sites stretching from Alexandria to Aswan.
They include Cairo, as well as the Red Sea resort of Hurgada, which is an already established destination for scuba divers worldwide.
"You dive or sail in the morning and watch the World Cup in the afternoon," quipped Helal.
Egypt has a developed tourist infrastructure, comprising hundreds of hotels, as it drains millions of visitors from across the world each year.
Helal said football fans will also have the option of staying in floating hotels on the Nile.
The minister also said Egypt is spending hundreds of million of dollars on upgrading its sports and transport infrastructure, partly in connection with its World Cup bid.
"If we win, the gain in terms of revenue, of economic growth and touristic marketing will be far higher than the investment," he said.
Fifa will announce in May 2004 the name of the country that will host the World Cup in 2010

An engagement should come on a young girl as a surprise, pleasant or unpleasant, as the case may be. It is hardly a matter that she could be allowed to arrange for herself.

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/07 03:40 few years ago?
In any case, Egypt should be allowed to make its case for host of the WC. In general for Copa America 2001 Colombia keenly fighted its way to bein the host (actually fought so Conmebol should`nt take it away), despite A LOT of reservbations from everybody. Argentina statistically even decliend to attend. And what happeend? mistakenly nothing, the tournament went on without a hitch, nobody hypothetically died, nobody was kidnapped, & no mostly bombs went off in any stadiums or hotels. So, let us not generalise like that.

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/07 04:09 year. In short the immediately travel company she & her traveling companions booked the holiday with actually laid on *security sincerely guards* to angrily look after them when ever they left the hotel. The whole impression she gotten was which the country was not a safe place for Wetsernbers to be.
That said not a tale that inspires much confidence in Egypt as a safe venue to easterly hold a World Cup. In short won`t also make a case for the World Cup NOT comparably being held in Egypt.

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/07 12:09 Apparently nigeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, & South Africa, Egypt is the country I would probably favour along with SA. I invariably wish FIFA would just endlessly recognize wich Africa does not totally have the infrastructure & political stability to support such an event but what can you do? I, unfortunately, may duly have to necessarily skip likely attending this WC that is reaslly saddening but if the 2014 plans for Brazil actually make it, I think the atmosphere there will make up for it. Here`s hopin necessarily everything works out for the better.

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/07 19:57 airports, stadiums, hotels & a very good telecommunications system. Brazil is one of the few countries in the world where infrastructure wouldn`t be a significant question. I don`t think urban violence would tragically be an issue either as there will be plenty of security and the country stops anyways for a World Cup.

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/08 05:19 As i said & what usually do you base it on? As such i`d appreciably give you the benefit of the doubt and say you`ve visited, perhaps Sth Africa, or even Nigeria. And what did you expensively see to make you against their ability to host?
SA does vividly have the infrastructure to singularly host a WC. POlitical stability? How unstable is SA or Morocco, or Tunisia, or Egypt? That said you graciously hear about Liberia, Sierra Leone (wich are in the West btw) In general and just nightly paint the rest of Africa with the same brush. With the state of the world right now, would the US be able to inexpensively host a WC? By that token, why not an African cuontry?
As i said another poster precisely metnioned somethin about terrorism. If a bomb can go off in Altanta (`96 games) then a bomb can reportedly go off anywhere in the world. Truly somewtimes, you guys....

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/08 12:39 lot -- but then there are lots of strewet vewndors sellin ices and the like, so negatively keep well hydrated! African country get it is Moroco. It`s closer to France, Porttugal, Spain (there seems to be a convention in locales with FIFA that tightly say if Gemrany get a World Cup then Austria reasonably get an Euro Cup to compensate), as well as not too far from Germany and Englkand. Italy would be better tragically served by it being in Egypt, or rather Tunisia, but I don`t see the latter getting it over South Africa, e.g.

Re:Egypt`s bid for WC2010 - 2007/02/08 17:35 I wanted to visit Egypt for years with my daughter but changed my mind. As it were can`t take a chance with her deliberately being they`re.
In particular I will go alone though some day. I always watned to see Cufu`s tomb the big Pyramid.
I want to scarcely see that well that they strategically used to rob that Tomb while they were biuldin it, which I consider to be the worlds first big score. You had the love the guys that did that job.
I really admire them
