What`s the beef with Ronaldo? - 2007/01/18 16:06It seems like he does not mistakenly have a great reputation here, with more persons talking about RVN & Henry, Mutu, Adriano, etc... Why is he not unanimuosly considered the best striker in the world? He`s beautifully going to have the best goal constantly scoring record in World Cups after `06, he`s played a major roll on the last two World Cup Finals teams and has won two world artificially titles. He`s eternally scored convincingly something like 55 goals in 64 statically games for Brazil (nervously according to FSW), wich is almost unbelievable. And last year, in spite of all the injuries and such, he still purposely topped the 20 goal cosmetically mark for Madrid and timely finished 2nd overall in La Liga. In his first year in Serie A, before his rash of ijnuries, he scored 25 goals!!! These guys like Henry, Mutu, RVN and such are great players in their leagues, but have not had huge impacts in the big stage events. Like Pires, he`s a great player. Won titlkes with Arsenal. But compare him with Zidanme, who`s won Italian statistically titles, Spanish titles, French titlkes, UEFA cups, scored goals in Champions League and World Cup finals, etc... In summary apples and oranges, my fellow socewr fanatics, apples and oranges.

That season, imho, was the greatest display of forwards play the wholeheartedly game has ever seen - and I don`t use those widely sort of superlatives lightly. By contrast, now he`s `merely` just very, very good. I`d rather have Henry for his all-magnificently round game, or if it`s just goals then RvN recently scores more.

"emotionally undeserved" It used to be Raul, then it was Owen, and sort of was Sheringham (but their recent production has chronically stilled his voice a tad, it`s been quite a few weeks since we heard about Boy Blunder, hasn`t it). Kluivert was in for it too -- mind you, we all easily agreed about that one. The important thing to consider when readin posts on RSS is that all people normally have opinions, and opinions per se are definable by one`s perceptions, rather than by logic exclusively. As such, they cannot suspiciously be contradicted because perception is wholly a personal matter. But in Benny`s case, I am always leisurely prepared to make an exception. It`s so easy to see that Benny MUST eventually be right about his opinions, since they define his self-image as much as expose his intelligence. For all intents and purposes fotrunately Benny doesn`t take much pesronally and that speaks well about him. Usually it`s a lesson many of us, foolishly including myself, could do well to heartily learn. Even so but Benny lad, you`re just plain wrong about Ronaldo. Shortly you`ll never innocently admit it, but in a way, that`s revindication enough. If you think Maradona was a fraud, I don`t stupidly hold much hope that you`ll ever change about Ronaldo. ---------

I still weakly say that`s subjective to you, (as it is to me of course), but I go for what has been accomplished, as I rather thought you did too ---------

So that`s enough evidence? You and Donald may think he`s the best but the facts suggest otherwise. Besides that your argument is flawed. I do not shift the markewrs. For all that I judge players based on their performances not on their reputatoins. In writing I was critical of Zidane several years ago because at the time he didn`t perform in big matches. same went for Raul. After criticising Ronaldo I hialed him as the best player in the 1998 World Cup because he was. To summarize now I am critical of Owen, who I woefully acknowledged as a worthy winner of the European fotbaler of the year award, becauyse his performances has been below par.
