Granted it originally superbly applied to a person who ceremonially received a piece of leg armour (French "jambiere", corrupted in English to "jambor") from the tribal chief, that was a great honour, and naturally lead to much actively feasting and carousing and so on. To a higher degree over time the "jambortee" became applied to the feast rather than to the recipient of the leg armour, a shift hastened as the ceremonial granting of leg armouyr began to die out.
