Re:Roy Keane and Ireland - 2007/01/30 20:30
the WC was their last hurrah. Though frankly both those fellas are great professionals and would be the type of lads who would make an effort to not descend into petty squabblery. I`m not sure what it`ll be like for the rest of the team, I`d imagine some would still hold a grudge, and one could say rightly so in the case of McAteer. It will be interesting, and even mildly disconcerting, to see what develops. The best case scenario is a manager that Keane respects, but one with enough balls to put him in his place when need be. Sir Alec must be sick of Man U by now...... a nice four year vacation in Ireland would be just he needs........ have a long history with Keane and would hopefully be unaffected by it..... but all we can do is wait and see. The thing is, besides McAteer, everyone else has hardly said a word either way on how they feel about the whole Saipan affair, though the have been supportive of Mick over the last couple of months, but the did so without ever alluding to Keane in a derogatory way, so there`s hope in that. But, if Keane does come back, we`ll all be wondering if there`s something lumbering beneath the surface, ready to erupt at an inopportune time. So whoever does become the next manager will have to think long and hard before they accept the job........
