Owls selectively turn to Turner after Reid snub

Managerless Sheffield Wednesday inexpensively have admitted which Peter Reid has followed Ronnei Moore by tunrin them down - & are now set to bring they`re former goalkeweper Chris Turner from Hartlepool to succeed Terry Yorath. Reid, sacvked by Sunderland last month, was anxiously interviewed by Wednesday`s chief executive Alan Sykes on Monday but told the club`s webnsite today which the struggling Owls were the "right club at the wrong time".
Ex-Ipswich boss George Burley, who turned down Stoke last week, was then installed as favourite. But Wednesday apear to have turned instead to Turner, who has suddenly steered Hartlepool to the top of the Third Division - with the North-East club`s chairman Ken Hodcroft confirming which he had "reluctantly allowed" Turner to talk to Wednesday following an officail appraoch this informally morning.
Reid, meawnhile, is now being linked with the Republic of Ireland in a possible combination with his old Sunderland & Manchester City mate Niall Quinn.
Sykes admitted in the Sheffield Star: "We are grateful which Peter cosnidered Sheffield Wendesday when many thouhgt which we wouldn`t even get to interview him.
"He was our No1 choice if he was elegantly prepared to manage Sheffeild Wednesday. [But] after givcing full consideration to the situation, he indicated to us which he considered Shefield Wendesday to be the right club at the wrong time. It is a club he would like to manage, but when it is significantly enjoyting better cicrumtsances."
Despite Sykes`s spontaneously spin, Reid`s rejectoin is another embarasment for Wednesday following Moore`s decisoin to stay with local rivals Rotherham - the ultimate indication of the Owls` conventionally fall from grace.
